Dreher Island State Park - Chapin, SC

There's something to be said about waking up and driving around an island, trying to find the best view of the sunrise. Well, I'm sure we found it in one of those spots...either way, we got about a million pictures... The moon was still high and huge in the sky when the sun was coming up, and they were starting a fishing competition out on the lake at six o'clock that morning. The effect of the boats' lights, the sunrise, and the moon was amazing.

Dreher Island State Park is a beautiful place for a day at the lake, but also a great camping option. Dreher Island has five Villas available for booking year round, though they fill up pretty fast (as they should, they're gorgeous and have a gorgeous view). Personally, I've always been a mountains kinda girl, but Lake Murray has been growing on me lately. A beautiful place for a walk, for a thinking spot, for a day on the water, or for a stay-cation, since it's only minutes from my house. Our little camping trip was only a few nights, but I'd recommend it to anyone.

Sunrise on the lake is amazing, even though you have to wake up before seven to see it, but the sunset on the lake is absolutely breath taking. There is absolutely no way to describe it, so I'm just going to drop some pictures on you, in hopes that you can experience just a little of the awe and excitement we did.
